Identification Requirements

In accordance with the Criminal Justice Act 1994 (as amended), we are required to verify the identity of each new client. In order to satisfy these requirements please ensure that ONE name verification and TWO address verification documents accompany this account opening pack when returning it to USOIL.

It is important to note that we will not be able to open an account unless correct identification documents have been received. Please refer to the list below, which includes a list of acceptable documents.

If your application is in joint names we will need identification documents for EACH client named on the account.

All cheques should be made payable to U.S. OIL and Gas plc and drawn on your personal bank account.

Name Verification

For name verification purposes we will require a certified copy of a valid passport or Irish/UK driving licence.

For non-residents, we will accept a certified copy of a National Identity Card.

A certified copy is a copy that has been signed and stamped by a solicitor, chartered accountant, Garda, Commissioner for Oaths or a bank official as evidence that the photocopy supplied is a true copy of the original.

Address Verification

For address verification we will require TWO original items from TWO different sources from the following list:

  • Recent utility bill, e.g. electricity bill, gas bill, telephone bill (dated within the last three months)
  • Bank, credit union or building society statement (dated within the last three months)
  • Most recent Notice of Determination for Tax Credit
  • Current Balancing Statement from Revenue Commissioners (dated within the last twelve months)
  • Social Insurance Documents
  • Current household/motor insurance documents (policy document only)
  • Revenue Commissioners C2 Tax Credit (dated within the last twelve months)

EU Savings Directive

In accordance with the EU Saving Directive (EUSD) all new clients, both resident and non-resident, must provide evidence of their identity and residence. If you have provided a passport or National Identity Card to satisfy your name verification you do not have to provide any supplementary documents. If not, you must provide an official document issued by either:

  • The Revenue Commissioner
  • The Minister for Family and Social Affairs

The document must contain:

  1. Your Name
  2. Your Address
  3. Your PPS Number
